Annette Mewes-Thoms: Artist's Statement

Annette Mewes-Thoms grew up at the coast of the North Sea (Germany). She loves water.  Since her childhood, she studied the reflection of water surface, where she discovers the whole universe. Sometimes it is clear, sometimes distorted.

When it’s windy, boat masts become fascinating meandering lines. These lines she has made on her topic.

Annette Mewes-Thoms works with a concept. With pencil, paintbrush or camera she crosses lines in several layers. The works grow from layer to layer. Every moment is an exciting game like an adventure, whose exit is not foreseeable. 

Annette's works engage recipients to be able to discover what is in them.
